The Valley Film Club

Valley Film ClubThe Valley Film Club is a student lead filmmaking group organized at Valley High School in West Des Moines. Any Valley student, including Southwood's freshman students, are welcome to join in and help make movie magic. Members help out with writing, recording, acting in, producing, directing, editing and distributing short films. No experiences are required. Our films are mainly produced by Blooper Brothers Productions and Up-All-Night Productions, each being student owned and none-profit. Having a film club is not new to Valley. There was the FFF (Future Filmmakers of the Future) and the Knights of LAME which our club branched off after members were abandon with the disbandment of LAME. The founding members of Valley Film are Zachary Hayes (director and producer for Blooper Brothers Productions) and Laura Fast (writer and producer for Up-All-Night Productions). Together they put together their first movie, Valley High School Musical, and got entirely new members to join.

Zachary Hayes and Laura Fast will be looking for committed students to help out and be apart of the filming. They need actors and screenwrights especially. Each film will be displayed on YouTube and Zachary Hayes' website. Zach hopes to make more meaningful films as well as comedies to boost their popularity. Hopefully there will be some video competitions over the summer we will be able to enter. Send us an email if you'd like to help out.

April 24, 2008 - Valley Film has announced that VHSM will not be released until the 2008-09 school year because of time restraints. If necessary, some rolls will be recasted next year. "We plan to record enough this year to be able to make apreview or trailer for the movie but the finished film can't Valley High School Musicalpossibly be completed within the next two months," Laura Fast, screenwriter of VHSM says. Director Zachary Hayes added, "I'm hoping we canrecord at least one song." Because they'll have more time over the summer to work on the script, the movie may be extended with added scenes. "Hopefully no new characters will be added because it's been hard enough casting what we've got," says Zachary.

Blooper Brothers Productions

On October 7th of 2001, the very first Blooper Brother's short movie was recorded. It was "The Woodsman", a horror flick about three Blooper Brothers Productionsyoung boys doing a video school project about a haunted house. It was somewhat like the Blair Witch Project in that the point of view was from a character's video camera. The story is that the house is haunted by a man who turns trespassers into wood and burns them. The three characters (Jacob Smith, Smitty and Zachary) are forced to run into a park where they run into their school friends (by improved coincidence) who are turned into wood. One character (played by Summer Wendt) meets up with the three and joins them after the Woodsman kills her sister. In the end, the Woodsman conveniently disappears back into his grave hidden under some big bushes in the park.

Ever sense then, Blooper Brothers has produced over one hundred short films which are now digital and can be found on YouTube. Blooper Brothers' president, Zachary Hayes and recent vice president, Braydon Van Rossem were unable to continue their movies due to distance but it is his long term goal to make a sequel to the Woodsman. This becomes more difficult now that "The Woodsman" has become an actual movie title. Blooper Brothers is none-profit.

Up-All-Night Productions

Slowly becoming a branch off of Blooper Brothers, Up-All-Night Productions is a new entertainment company presided over by writer Up-All-Night ProductionsLaura Fast. Any movie writen by Laura is co-produced by Up-All-Night Productions. The name, "Up All Night", comes from Laura's experience while writing Valley High School Musical. She'd sometimes pull all-nighters just to finish a scene in the script. It's a great reflection on her commitment to her profession. Spotlight
