May 23, 2008 - Summer, Pride, Straightness and Old People!

The school year is just about over! Soon I will be able to walk out of this place and say "Zomg it's fricken summer!!!" What are Zachary Hayes' plans for the summer you ask? Well I don't know where to begin! So I'll start at the beginning. First day of Summer, my mom and I are leaving for Texas. We're going to go pick up my grandma. But first we're going to stay there a week which gives me a great oppertunity to start recording for my new documentary, Straight for a Month. As soon as that's over, Pride Week begins! The most rainbow filled week of the year! We're going to march the streets in festive half-cut colorful t-shirts. I am going to take that oppertunity to record a lot for my documentary as well. Perfect timing! When thats done with I then plan on going to adventure land like last year. I'm going to spend a few weeks living with my brother, I wonder how my boss will take it? I need to stay focused on my documentary though. I need to have the majority done by the end of the summer. Well, I'm on break, so I guess my website is as well! See you all in the fall.

May 12, 2008 - Prom Night, A Fohawking Good Time!

Prom night is a night of tuxedos, dresses, dancing, punch and anticipated sex. Unfortunately, I was only able to experience two of those things on my prom night. Junior prom isn't too big of a deal. The seniors get in free but we have to pay! Plus we can't be prom King or Queen. That is until this year where Valley came up with a new way to be politically correct incorrectly. Juniors have a shot at being the prom Prince and Princess. This was my opportunity to shine! During the vote I was able to sneak a stack of left Zachary Hayes and Abi Leblanc Promover ballots to fill in my name as prince. I wouldn't call it cheating, it's just insuring the right person wins. Well after all this wasted effort, I somehow didn't win. I wasn't the only person voting for me either. Still, I hadn't originally intended on going to prom until Trevor convinced me. I think he did it more because he needed a ride there, but it's the act that counts, not the thought. So my mom insisted I get a tux. I found the perfect tux! Black with pink vest and tie. It didn't fit my ego but was a match for my personality. Now I just needed a date, but no guy would go with me. I asked at least six straight guys and got turned down ever time. Except one who chose to humor me. I made an executive decision to go with a girl but only if they looked like a guy. So I asked Abi, and was pleased I wouldn't have to go alone.

Abi wore a suit which went well enough with my tux. My dad thought she should wear adress but I had to do some explaining which left him moreconfused. After grouping with Trevor and his girlfriend Clare, we went to get something to eat. Abi and I were more than likely poisoned because after that we were sick the rest of the night. We also ended up walking three blocks in the rain just to get to prom because we had the wrong location. I didn't say "I told you so" but wanted to very badly. Prom was great besides the fact that they ran out of punch and we were sick. I spamed the text board with advertisement for my website. Finally it came time to leave for after-prom.

Zachary Hayes YMCA Valley After-promFor after prom, Abi and I matched shirts just because it looked cute. We arrived andwere instantly laid upon entering. After-prom was held at Jordan Creek Mall and thetheme was "Rock the Boat" or something like that. The first thing I noticed was they were promoting gambling. They had blackjack, texas hold'em and roulette. I hurt my balls on the velcrow wall and got my face crushed on the q-tip duel thingy. There was twister, karaoke and free food. I played blackjack and won a few times. Then moneystarted to rain out of the sky! I won a random name drawing and got some gift certificates and also recieved a salor's hat which was so gay, I couldn't not wear it! I ended up being one of the richest people there. Of course, it was all fake money. I danced to the YMCA with my sailor hat and am now on DesMoinesRegister.com. Also, asa group, we did karaoke and sang "Rock and Roll All Night" by KISS. It sucked but we were the first so people envied us. Finally, my group had to leave two hours early so I tossed my thousands of dollars into the air and it was gone in seconds. Nobody thanked me.

Next year, Zachary Hayes for prom King! Watch the YMCA video from After-prom on YouTube.

April 23, 2008 - Valley Film Club

I have to build a website in Web II class here at Valley High and I picked the Valley Film club as my client. Not only is it easy because I'm el president (and director) of the Valley Film club but it's video capability will be similar to that of this site. I'm going to be clever and put the Valley Film club page online using my website and I have figured out a way (finally) to end a URL without the .html tag at the end. You can feel free to check out my film club page while I work on it and see it slowly being updated until the end of the school year, check it out! Just some other info on it, I adopted the club from its origin of being Knights of LAME when the other members of that stopped coming and turned it into Valley Film (because I wanted a name for the club that would attracted members a little more, not that I didn't like LAME) and found a new teacher sponser, my "aunt" Carol. Apparently there was once a club here called "Future Filmmakers of the Future" which is also a cool name but I thought I'd start something of my own. We're currently working on Valley High School Musical but it looks like we will not finish that this year. Next year Valley Film club will be an official club, hopefully. We've combined two student-made production companies to make it, Blooper Brothers and Up-All-Night Productions.

April 7, 2008 - La-Di-Da-Palooza Party

On April 4th I had one of the most anticipated parties in Zachary Hayes history! In celebration of La-Di-Da-Palooza's beginning I held an open party for people to meet the tour crew and help set up for the tour album. Most of the time everybody played Rock Band and ate pizza. We actually ran out of pizza pretty quickly. Vanessa Torres was unable to show up. When most of the guests had left the party, a few decided to go across the street to the park to meet up with a friend. Knowing this was a stupid idea, I went with them. Samantha and I were shrewd enough to stay behind and watch from a distance, which was a very lucky move, because the cops pulled into the parking lot. They pulled over everyone except Samantha and I because we were able to escape and get back to my house where we waited for our friends who were being interrogated by the cops. It's no surprise the cops pull over everyone who is suspiciously hanging out at the park late at night, I'm actually happy they do that. There is a lot gang activity in that area and it's about time somebody does something about it. When everyone was back at my house, the party was dead because of the cops so just about everyone left. Now La-Di-Da-Palooza has began!

March 26, 2008 - Spring Break

Spring break is over, leaving nine more weeks left in the school year. Usually my spring breaks are boring but this one wasn't so bad. It started off on Friday, I went to Jordan Creek Mall with the Valley High School Musical crew and we recorded the two scenes we needed there. We had so much extra time that we spent it making a very short film that I've yet to edit and publish on YouTube. After the mall shoot I went home and awaited the arrival of Brandon and Thomas. We went to the Lifehouse concert at the Val Air Ballroom which was a very fun and sexy time. I worked Saturday but afterwards, Brandon and I had plans to go see a movie together. Just me and my best friend, my best friend and I, going to a movie together. I, of course, struggled to tell him that I had invited Steve to come with but I didn't feel so bad when I found out he invited Matt which I didn't mind at all. We went to 10,000 BC and for being a boring movie, it was a hilarious time. All I can remember is that the movie had some guy named Dick-Dick and a bunch of guys holding sticks were shouting out "Va-Jay-Jay!". Sunday after work Brandon stayed over the whole night. We ate sugar and played Rockband. He had to stay up till 4am so he could get used to having to work nights. I worked Monday. I spent Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday hanging out with Brandon until he had to work at 9pm. That mostly consisted of us going to the mall and seeing a movie. I think in all we watched about 50 movies over spring break, well maybe not that many. Friday night I had another sleep over. We went to Thomas' work at the bowling alley and bowled till 2am. I won a game... Brandon won many. It was fun though. Thomas came over and joined the sleep over followed by a drunken version of Steve. That morning required us to sleep in. That night Brandon and I went to two movies at the theater. We may or may not have played for the second, I cannot conform either way. But the highlight of that night was when I got the call from my awesome co-worker telling me I could have Sunday off! I was pretty depressed on Sunday actually. It was the last day of spring break. It turned into a fun day though. Brandon, Thomas and I went to the Kill Hannah concert. God, what a boring blog... you can tell I'm back at school.

February 20, 2008 - On The Air

With my recent breakthrough in using webcam to broadcast live video to my site, I came to the easy conclusion that I am going to host my own show that, of course, is called The Zachary Hayes Show. I got a new webcam with great quality video and wide screen. It's the best I could find and works great. Also I downloaded a program that allows me to modify my live video while I'm broadcasting. It's great stuff! Anyway my show will be every Wednesday at 5pm and Saturday at 2pm. Stickam.com is the website that is allowing me to put live video on my site. I just put my Stickam on the new show page and it does the rest of the work. It's exactly what I needed and more (which isn't always a good thing). The "Pilot Episode" of The Zachary Hayes Show will be either Friday or Saturday. It's about damn time that I got my own live show. It will be like a talk show with movie previews and review, news with Sex McSexy, video segments, and a theme for ever show. Also I'll have special guests of course! We'll see how it goes. Be sure to check it out! I'd suggest getting a Stickam profile of your own. It's really cool. See you on the air!

February 4, 2008 - Youth Strike for Christ 2008: GodSpace

In the beginning there were two goals. Like the 2007 Youth Strike for Christ (YSFC), it began on a friday. I had been anticipating that day since one year prior, February of 2007. As soon as school had ended, I was packed and in the escorting van within thirty minutes (special thanks to Kim for getting me there). There were two vans, each chaperoned by two adults. The adults goal was to get to Iowa City, two hours away from Des Moines. The youth, and especially myself, had the goal of convincing the adults that we needed to stop at McDonalds on the way. I had not eaten lunch. Little did I know, that McDonalds would be the last divine food I would eat that entire weekend.

It was three hours before we made it to the Marriott hotel (somehow it took an extra hour to get there), one entirely different from the Marriott in Des Moines. I was already familiar with the conventional routine of checking in. Got my name tag, got my free t-shirt, got my room key. To my dismay, we had God Space - Youth Strike for Christalready missed the opening band. If there was an opening band. I wouldn't know... because we missed it. We were soon introduced to a new band, AnaVox (which stands for new or upward voice). Broken Yoke, the band from 2007's YSFC, has broken up or something but that's ok cause AnaVox was very cool. The singer, Mike, would be staying in the hotel room right down the hall from mine. I contemplated taking the liberty of ordering him a pizza but wasn't sure of his reaction to such pranks. Our room was 631. I would be staying with Will and Parker along with some guy we'd never met who's name was apparently Tyler (we read the tag on his suit case as we searched his belongings for treasure). As a prank we stole the complimentary shampoo and conditioner from the bathroom so Tyler would be in rue but I returned the shampoo when I found out I'd be sharing a bed with him and I didn't want him to smell.

I got to meet up with some old friends that I hadn't seen since YSFC 2007. Jamey made it very clear that we were not allowed to purple during the youth strike. Purple means you can't flirt or look for relationships with other people. You can't tell a teenager not to flirt when you're in a hotel with a thousand other kids. By the end of the weekend I had purpled, red, greened, yellowed and the just about every other color in the rainbow.Kim purpled so much that it was starting to turn blue. As blue as David's... heart? David was one of the guys in Kim and I's small group. We met him in 2007 as well. David and Kim kinda had a thing, but everyone had a thing with David. Our small group was the Galatians. It was made up of Kim, David, Duvick, Ashley, CJ, Andrew, John, Tyler, Sarah, Katie, Kristin, and Natalie. Small groups were put together by the Core Team and made up of just about 15 people. We had a leader, Marissa, she went to Simpson College. Our first impressions of her and her first impression of us wasn't so great on friday. By Saturday, we were all friends and our group was the greatest group ever... Ha! Tony, the drummer for AnaVox, even joined. If I had a dollar for every time my name was mentioned during our small group meetings, I would probably have so much money that I might have an actual reason to brag. I promoted my website to a whole new level, but I don't need to tell you that, after all if you're reading this blog it's probably as a result of me advertising it. I'm actually pretty surprised that nobody shut me up. Coincidentally, CJ recognized me as "the guy with a white mask" which is a clear reference to my Chameleon Boy video. That video has 11,000 hits on YouTube, subtract one thousand for every time I've watched it and divide by the world's population of 6,602,224,175 (est. July 2007). By my poor math that's like a .000001514641% chance that he would have seen the video and the odds that he has seen any of my Galatians - Youth Strike for Christother few videos in which I use the white mask are even lower because they have less hits. Coincidence? I doubt it. As V says in V for Vendetta, "I, like God, do not play with dice and do not believe in coincidences". There is an easy explanation. Galatians was a group full of far too many coincidences. Every member who I knew personally had a similar trait that I am surprised everyone else met. We were all homoerotic. This is both a theory and fantasy. It would make little sense to randomly put everyone in groups. Give me a break, it was the best conclusion I could think of. In the picture, you can see the Galatians. I am not in the picture because I was taking it. You can see David wrapped around... I mean purpling... Kim. Duvick is waving his arm frantically, like he always does. Ashley is shadowed behind Duvick and Andrew. Check out the rest of the pictures!

So the theme of this years Youth Strike was GodSpace. Clever way to appeal to teenagers because it was centered around the concept of Myspace. The preacher talked about GodSpace.com and compared it to Myspace and said we all need to make our own GodSpace in Myspace and beware of hackers. Of course she didn't talk about ZacharyHayes.com because she was not enlightened enough. I promised everyone that in my anticipated blog which tells my story of Youth Strike (i.e. what you're reading) I would make a link to GodSpace WHETHER OR NOT it excited because I had a suspicion that it didn't. When I got home on Sunday I attempted to log onto GodSpace only to find it doesn't exist. I google searched "godspace.com" to find 219 references to GodSpace.com, but there is not actual www.godspace.com on the internet. My next reaction was "Oh hey, everyone from Youth Strike is going to try and get on godspace.com and find nothing, so I should go on a web host and buy godspace.com and link it directly to Zachary Hayes dot com!" So I checked and the domain name is already purchased, but they never built the site. Still, because I promised I would, here is the link to GodSpace.

Bed time was very strict. When they say "lights out" they mean "lights out, or I'll knock you out". As for Willy, Parker, Tyler and I... we stayed up till just about 3am. We tried to get to sleep and the second night I kept falling asleep and they kept waking me. Apparently I snore. One of the times, I woke up to a loud howling like the climax of an orgasm. Apparently someone had dared Tyler to do that as loud as he could, and he did. The sound was followed by an even louder knock on the door which means "we heard that, and we know you're awake... and you are #&@$ed". So we fell silent. The previous night, our door was knocked on but we later found out that David was running down the halls knocking on everyone's door. Parker looked out into the hall to find that this time it actually was a hall monitor knocking, so we fell silent. Then I began to think about what that hall monitor must have been thinking after hearing that sound Tyler made and I burst into laughter. That was followed by another loud knock at the door. Yeah, sleeping was rough. I ended up falling asleep while the preacher was speaking on Saturday and... well... I snore.

One of my favorite parts of the entire trip was the dance. Like last year, we had a dance with music and everyone having a good time. I had searched all of Friday and Saturday for a date but when Saturday night came, I still didn't have one. I couldn't exactly count on a guy asking me, either. I mean come on... two guys dancing at a religious event? I didn't want to be confronted by bullies and then have to explain to them that "There was no hebrew word for homosexual" and "'Man shall not lye with man as with woman' actually means guys can't be prostitutes". People don't listen to reason. Still that doesn't make it any more fair that I go without a date *play violin*. The good news is I do have a date for the valentines dance this saturday but that's a different story.

January 25, 2008 - Valley High School Musical

A few months ago around the beginning of the school year, I had an interesting conversation with my dear friend, Laura Fast. We were discussing the new school club, Knights of LAME, which is essentially a film club. I was trying to come up with an idea for a short film because I was ranked as being a director in the group. Laura made a joke about Valley High School musical and from it came the brilliant idea for a "Valley High School Musical". The idea was too good to resist. Since, Laura has been writing the script and just about has it done except a few missing songs. I spent the past months looking for actors to join. I created a facebook group to attract Valley students. I have having trouble getting people interested and because facebook is blocked at school, Laura told me to make a page for VHSM on my website so people could get information about auditioning and such. I finished the VHSM site today. Anybody interested in being in this short film should go to the page and see how immediately. Anyone can join.

January 10, 2008 - Winter Break, New Years and Finals

I had a great winter break. Santa brought me an Xbox 360 and I spent a few days in Ames playing Rock Band. On New Years my mom randomly said we're going to Minnesota over New Years and we stayed in a Holiday Inn in Minneapolis. It was freezing cold in the city. Now that I'm back at school, I've struggling with finals. I think I'll do fine but it's just so hard to concentrate when I have this new boy on my mind. We're dating now, and I know I've never mention any of my previous boyfriends on my web site, but I feel that this is the kind of guy I really want to be with. I've tried getting myself as far away from the overly-gay-drama-queen-fashion-freaks and I've had to search for a long time, avoiding temptations to date guys I know I'm really not into and now I am rewarded with the opportunity to impress someone instead of having the clingy guys desperately like me no matter who I am or what I am. I've rarely found anyone that I am able to connect with and when I do, I fail to impress them or prove to them that I'm worth while. Oh snap I'm supposed to be talking about finals. Yeah... finals are hard. But this time, I will not fail.

December 5, 2007 - La-Di-Da-Palooza

On April 4th I'm going to kick off my concert tour at legend park in West Des Moines La-Di-Da PaloozaIowa. I know I'm announcing it early but I came to the decision just the other day. I told Samantha (President of Zachary Hayes Fan Club) that I wanted to do something called La-Di-Da-Palooza. The original idea was that I'd walk down to the park for 5 minutes and sing. Now it turns out that we are actually going to find crappy bands who'd be willing to play! Not only crappy bands, but we figured those would be more easy to get to sign up without pay. Tickets to this even are free. I scheduled it on April 4th because that will be the second year anniversary of me coming out of the closet and also that gives plenty of time for rehearsal, booking bands and be learning how to sing. So far I have no musical talent although I do know a few songs I'll be performing. The concert will begin with Clocks by Coldplay and end with me performing Chameleon Boy (signature song) along with my harmonica. Of course I won't be soloing because of my inability to sing. You can join the event on FaceBook and more information will be released later in the year.

December 5, 2007 - Working Hard or Hardly Working?

It's been a crazy month at my work. A few weeks ago my dad dropped me off at where I saw that it was completely shut down. A sign saying "Closed for Reconstruction" was posted on the door. I was forced to go with my dad to the gym where, on the up side, I was given a free massage. I talked to my co-manager, Duane. He told me there would be a meeting that following sunday. He was also nice enough to wait for me to come pick up my pay check which was worth $50. They owed me $500 but I'm over that now. Come to think of it, I've yet to cash that $50 dollar check. Anyway at that meeting they announced that Happy Joe's would be "temporarily" shut down. We were even on the news. I was under the impression that it would be shut down for a matter of months but just last week I got a call saying we were reopening. Now we have new mangers who see really cool. The place is totally falling apart the first day I worked for the new managers! The roof was leaking EVERYWHERE with the freshly melted snow. They fixed that. Unfortunately Duane, who has been the greatest boss ever, no longer works at Happy Joe's. That's a big mistake on Happy Joe's part. Good times to be together! Ha, yeah right. Well I've improved now that I have new managers to impress. From playing harmonica for kid's birthdays to cleaning vomit off the floor. Yuck!

October 16 , 2007 - Zachary Hayes Day

Today was the first annual Zachary Hayes Day. A day completely dedicated to me, Zachary Hayes. It all started a few days ago when it was announced that October 17th would be international Shawn Johnson day. Shawn Johnson is a girl who goes to my school and has pretty much become a world champion gymnast. She was Ellen and most would consider her famous. My friends and I disagree. Not my friends, I meant to say my fans. Zachary Hayes is the only famous person who goes to Valley High School!!! It was my idea to have an "Everyone Except for Shawn Johnson" Day the day before Shawn Johnson Day. Samantha (The president of my fan club) had a better idea to have it be Zachary Hayes Day instead. Her slogan was "Because Zach deserves a day too", or something like that. She made an event on Facebook and a lot of people attended. All we did for Zachary Hayes Day was make T-Shirts and go around promoting Zachary Hayes. A lot of people took notice and now I guess I kinda am famous (except in a nerdy, freakish way). People will soon take notice to how famous I really am. At least 3 (maybe 4) people made T-shirts and we had a parade around the school. It was a very small parade. We are already planning for the 2008 Zachary Hayes Day which will take place on October 16th unless that falls on a weekend. The next scheduled Zachary Hayes holiday is "January 15th or Something" which is the actual name of the holiday. It celebrates the anniversary of ZacharyHayes.com and all it's glory. I have a very big surprise to reveal which will take place on that day as a promotion.

October 6, 2007- It's My Birthday!

I am 17! And I still don't have my damn permit. How am I ever going to learn to drive? This was the longest birthday I have ever had. It lasted from the 4th to the 9th. I celebrated my birthday on the 4th. It was a Thursday and my real birthday was on saturday. My mom works Friday and Saturday so I thought I'd open presents and celebrate on Thursday so I didn't have to wait. My friend, Taylor, got me an awesome balloon that I took around school with me all day and it made everyone wish me a happy birthday. I felt popular like everyone knows it's my birthday but really it was the balloon. I had to take my video camera to school that day, so I made a video of all my friends saying happy birthday and it got to the point were I was recording completely random stuff. I edited the video and put it on YouTube. I called it 'Happy Birthday, Zach'. I got good and bad reviews such as "Dear God, That's pretty funny. I truly enjoyed it," said Samantha who was in the video. Graz, my creative writing teachers, is also in the video and he said to the class, "If anyone wants to see the stupidest video on YouTube then watch Zach's birthday video". Other people in the video include Matt, Ashley, Christian, Mrs. Engleman, and one guy who threatened to sue if I used the video of him; I used the video but censored it. After school my dad, mom, At Hooters on my Birthdaybrother, brother's girlfriend and I went to Hooters to eat. You can see my mom and I at Hooters in the right picture. This was the 3rd time I went to Hooters on my birthday, they made me get up and dance on a stool. After that we went to the Valley Mime show which did a short skit which poked fun of the HUG protest I mention in the blog titled 'Party Under the Tent (Homecoming Week)'. We went home after that and ate cake. I opened my presents and received new shoes, the 'Argue With A Tree' DVD and a Lexicon Sound Studio with microphone and everything. It's pretty sweet because I'll be able to get better sound quality in my movies and record my own songs. Did I mention I have no musical talent? That doesn't matter because I'm going to make a CD of myself anyway's and write songs and put them on a myspace page just for the hell of it. Saturday my old best friend, Brayden, visited from Kansas which is where he moved a few years ago. Him, Sam Sanchez and I all celebrated my birthday by going to the Family Fun Center and then Happy Joe's and ate a lot. They got high off helium. My best friend, Brandon, and his boyfriend, Jeff, also showed up and they got me the coolest t-shirt! After we ate, we went to the movie store next door which was going out of business so Brayden bought me 'V for Vendetta' for my birthday. I also got my mom a teddy bear cause her birthday is the day after mine. Brayden, Sam, a few friends and I all walked around the neighborhood and had a good time. We ding dong ditched a house and the Sonic drive in! We went to Wal-Mart and I got headphones that are good for using with my new sound studio. Sunday I walked in the rain to buy my mom a birthday card and then slept the rest of the day. It felt good to have an actual day off. Monday I got little balloon from Anne and it was so cool! More people wished me happy birthday after seeing it. Yeah it was a great birthday and I'm very happy to be 17!

September 29, 2007- Party Under the Tent (Homecoming Week)

I'm usually not the kind of guy to have much school spirit. After all it was just a week ago that I was protesting the school for banning hugging. I started a group called Hugging Unites Genders (HUG) and I even contacted WHO (the local news station) but when they called back they left a message and I was too afraid to call them. For some reason this year I got really pumped up for Homecoming. I participated in 'Dress Like Your Favorite Animal Day'. In rue of our school making up such a stupid spirit day, I dressed like a pig and called it the "new face of school spirit". Well then there was this carnival and we got to buy all this awesome food at lunch. Really cheap too. I got all kinds of crap. The theme of this years homecoming is "Party Under the Tent". The name makes me horny, but the point is Homecoming Gamethat it's about the circus and such. Thursday was the Valley Parade. I was parading for the club I'm in, Knights of LAME. I dressed like a Knight and got made fun of by just about every person I passed by but it was worth it cause I got my picture in the news paper. Our float was what was supposed to be an eagle made of newspaper and glue, propped on the top of a car with a brick. It was pretty lame. At the end of parade we went to the girls football team. Ha! Girls playing football. That was a fun knight... I mean night. Friday was the home coming game! The picture on the left shows Taylor, Becky and I in our Valley Tiger spirit gear. My friend, Alex, was coming from Ames to see his team play ours. In order for us to hang out he had to pretend to be a Valley fan. He didn't enjoy doing that but I think we had a fine time. Valley kicked Ames' ass, as expected. Saturday was the dance! Finally. I didn't have a date (although I did come close to having one) but I was just fine with it. The DJ had a projector and screen set up which was really cool because when you sent a text message to the phone number they displayed, it would put your message up on the screen! I, of course, spent the entire time promoting my name and web site with over 50 messages such as "ZacharyHayes.com is the best web site ever" and "Zachary Hayes for president". Some messages actually got very clever. The DJ saw that I was 'spamming' my name onto the request board and dedicated a song to me. "This next song is for Zachary Hayes" he said, playing the song 'This is Why I'm Hot'. My friends went crazy and so did I. Although nobody knew who I was, I still felt pretty important. After a while the projector guy put up a message saying "Would Zachary Hayes please come to the projector, we just want to know who you are." I eventually did so. Don't get me wrong, I did a hell of a lot of dancing. A LOT! I didn't get to dance with the guy(s) I wanted to dance with, but that's okay because I had a great time.

August 31, 2007 - Angel's Advocate

Vanessa Torres directed my new movie, Angel's Advocate. We started recording at Vanessa's house and got half way done before we had to quit for the night. It took us a while to start recording the rest but Vanessa and her brother, Adam, were moving so we had to finish the video fast and we still had no idea what the movie was about! We got to her house and finished the video and I wasn't too sure I'd like it till I edited it and saw that it's actually pretty well done for an amateur movie and we didn't spend more than $20. My acting, as usual, sucked which is why I let Vanessa and Adam be the main characters. This is the first DV (digital video) movie that Blooper Brothers Productions has taken credit for. Also it's the first movie that Blooper Brothers Productions has made in a few years without secondary companionship with other production companies. Angel's Advocate is a movie about Amy and Chad who are two college students. You can watch the Teaser Trailer or watch the full version on my Videos page. It's a 15 minute movie so I did not put it on YouTube. A video with bloopers is coming soon.

July 31, 2007 - Brandon and I

This summer Brandon and I had a lot of fun. Brandon is my best friend. We always have fun when we hang out. A few weeks ago he took me to the special olympics to help out voluntarily. Brandon and I officialed their baseball game. That is to say, we kept the "books" and wrote down stats. We had no idea how from the start but figured it out by the end. After 3 games my arms were burned and my knees were pealing from the sun. It was a lot of fun though, just being with Brandon and laughing the whole time. Then we went to Chuck and Larry which was a hilarious movie! All I remember after that is going downtown and just walking around the lake and seeing a band playing on the streets. The next saturday he picked me up and we went to a Tai Festival, there was food and stuff. He bought me an asian fan. We got on a little cart that was giving rides around the festival and the guy who was driving pretending to be a tour guide. We passed some asian people (because there were nothing but asians there) and he said "And here we have the Asians, please do not feed them". It was really funny. After that we went to the Blue October concert. We waited 2 hours in line and a radio station was doing a drawing to win t-shirts. When the radio people walked by to take the extra t-shirts to their van, I asked if I could have one. The lady said yes and gave me a stack to give to my friends! So I handed them out to random people. It was cool. We got inside a waited and waited for the opening band. They were ok. Brandon never heard of Blue October till that day but he was more focused on the crazy drunk lady annoying us. Blue October came out and they were awesome! I knew the lyrics to every song and sung along. It was really cool! Yesterday Brandon and I (and his boyfriend) saw two movies in a row!!! Never done that before. In a few weeks we plan to go camping and it's going to be so much fun! I can not wait! He's the coolest.

May 19, 2007 - Happy Joe's

My friend, Maddy, came up to me in the halls at school and asked if I'd like to work with her at Happy Joe's Pizza. I gave in and said yes. I applied at many places and never got a call so I figured I had nothing to lose. She brought me and application, I filled it out and turned it in. To my surprise about 1 or 2 weeks later I got a call from the manager asking for an interview. I was so happy. I went and there was no interview just him telling me what to fill out and I worked the next day. I did tell anyone this and I probably shouldn't put it up on the internet but it's kind of a funny story. The morning before the interview at school in first period Biology we were dissecting starfish. I find that disgusting because they have gross jelly under their hard-ass skin and well... the teacher had to escort me down the hall as I threw up into a trash can. I thought that was the end of that but then during last period I was feeling dizzy and my vision was blurred. I went into the restroom to... rest... and well I barfed even worse than before. It was so gross and embarrassing because 2 girls came out of the girls room and saw me and asked if I was ok. Well obviously not! One of the girls went and told my teacher then came back to escort me to the nurses office, what a nice girl. The lazy nurse (because remember it's last period) turned down my plea to HELP ME and went home for the day. So school was over by the time I got back to class and now... I had to go to a job interview. My mom picked me up and we hurried. I went into the building for the interview and tried to get through it as fast as possible. Lucky for me I already had the job so there was no interview. I felt so sick and I did NOT want to barf in front of my new boss. It ended and I got back in my moms car, 5 minutes of driving and she had to pull over so I could vomit out the door... we were next to an elementary school which just got out. When I got home I vomited a few more times, went to sleep, vomited again, and then had the best sleep of my life and I was over it. I think the thought of a job interview had made me sick.

May 19, 2007 - Blooper Brothers

When I turned 11 I got a video camera for my birthday. I started making movies the next day. My first movie was called The Woodsman and was about an evil apparition that turned kids into wood and used them for firewood and such. I couldn't edit my videos so it was all improved as best as possible. Then my ol' best friend, Brayden, and I started making a little show called 'Bloopers' in which we mimic the bloopers like that which you see at the end of a Jackie Chan movie. This was the start of the Blooper Brothers. Our symbol naturally became the slate because of it's connection to movie bloopers. After a while the Blooper Brothers died down. I got sick of making movies that I couldn't edit. Then slowly I started to update my equipment. First I got an editing program. I used a still digital camera that could take about 5 minutes of video at a time to make movies like the Chameleon Boy mv. When that got old I knew it was time for a new digital camera. I got a Canon ZR850 DV digital camera and it works great for making movies. Now I've started to fall back on the idea of Blooper Brothers. I made a myspace so I could post videos all in one place with a profile of everyone who works for Blooper Brothers. Click Here to see that myspace. I hired a director, screenwriter, actors and someone who could make music so all my movies are 100% original. The Blooper Brother team is now up to about 7 people including me, the producer.

February 4, 2007 - Youth Strike for Christ 2007: Life Swap

I spent the weekend at the Marriott for Youth Strike for Christ which is where a bunch of Youth Groups get together and have fun. It's not my topic of choice but it was actually a lot of fun. Kim took me to the Marriott after school and we checked in. I knew it was going to be fun because as soon as we walked in we got our own room key, a name tag that we had to wear around our necks and a free t-shirt. As soon as we got to our rooms (3 or 4 people per room) we got ready to swim. My roomys had not checked in yet. I got my swim suit on and met with Kim at the pool. There was a hot tub and the pool was warm! When we were bored of that we met back on the floor our rooms were on and our Youth Group gathered for dinner. I had a pretzel, pizza, pop and nachos! It cost an arm and leg. Then all the Youth Groups gathered in the big room (which happened to be the same room my school later has it's valentines dance!) and there is a warm up band before the band, Broken Yoke, came out. I never heard of Broken Yoke but after the weekend I loved them! I hate christian rock, but these guys were alright. So Duffy, the guest speaker, came out and gave his bit and it wasn't boring. It was funny! After that we all got together in our small groups which were teams of 10 or so teens from different Youth Groups probably made to help make friends. If only I wasn't so damn shy to talk to the guys there! When that was over we had some more guest speakers and then Broken Yoke played again. My group of friends and I got right in the front and could touch the band if we wanted to. Sooner or later we went back to the Marriott and were supposed to sleep. Our other room mate who was from another group, Holden and I stayed up until 3 banging on the walls to wake up other people and making coffee. We were just too excited! The next day was the same. Breakfast, Broken Yoke, lunch, Duffy, Broken Yoke, small groups, talent show, 88 Improv, dinner, Broken Yoke, Duffy, small groups, dance and sleep. It was all fun! During small groups we declared war on the small group across from us. 88 Improv was so funny! I even got on stage and helped out with an improv act. The dance was one of the funniest things we did. I met a ton of new people who I danced with. The problem was they were all girls! I didn't get to dance with any guys. What the hell is this a Christian dance or something? Oh... wait. Well anyway we got free ice cream during the dance! So I made a lot of girl friends who I still talk to. We went to bed and this time we slept. I woke up and was sad because I knew I would be leaving in 5 hours. We went to breakfast and listened to Duffy and danced to Broken Yoke. It was sad because we had built a friendship with the band and stuff. Then we had to leave and I felt like I was leaving a different life. Maybe was a lot of christian mumbo-jumbo (I hate talking about hell and sin, pfft), but it was a lot of fun just being with people and friends I wouldn't see again, that is, until next year!

January 19, 2007 - World of Warcraft.

Alright I play WoW. Woopty-do. Millions of people play it. And now the new expansion came out and I can't get my hands on it! World of Warcraft is such and addicting games. I started playing about a year and a half ago, maybe. I was really addicted when I started and ended up getting bored of it and stopped playing. Then summer came and I got back into it! It ruled my summer vacation of 2006 (and most of my summer I was sick with mono). Well anyway I started my own guild, got a hundred or so members, made a web site which is www.myspace.com/shadowknightclan. Now my Rogue Night elf was level 42 and I had a mount, I was the leader of the Shadow Knight Clan... and well... I got bored again. I started playing again Zach as Dagericbut I wanted a new adventure so I made a pally. His name is Trevalin. Right now he is level 23 and already has better stats than Dageric! Trevalin was named after one of my early WoW friends, Trevalink, who was my comrade back before my original main, Zj, was mysteriously deleted. The picture on the right is a photo shopped picture of myself made to look like Dageric, my new main. Now that the expansion is out and I plan on buying it very soon, my best online friend (whom started playing WoW because of me) and I are going to make Blood Elves and perhaps start our own guild. I'm sure I'll write a blog about it. If any of you play on the Moonrunner Realm add my characters and we can play later! Jak and I have a long history of online game playing. We met on Diablo II. My name was MasterEmperor, I was a necromancer; and Jak was a barbarian named... BARB... imagine that! Well we became good friends on Diablo II and started talking on email. He contacted me later saying we should meet up on this very popular online game, Habbo Hotel. Now Jak being Canadian wanted to play on Canada's version of Habbo, and I never herd of it. So I checked it out and made a character named SlimZj (feel free to add me). After the first hour on Habbo I got a temporary suspension from the game!!! Well anyway, Jak (YZX) and I (SlimZj) planned to open a cafe. Once we were bought credits we were able to do so. We opened the French Kiss Cafe! Clever yeah? So we played every day in our cafe and had a lot of fun. At one point I did a bad thing... long story short I got permanently kicked from Habbo. Lucky for me as long as I got on a new computer I could log back in! So I eventually got back on Habbo and settled down a bit. I opened a pink bar, theater for plays and concerts, and a psychology office... don't ask. ANYWAY! Now Jak and I play on World of Warcraft because I asked him to get it, and after a couple months of begging he got it and was better than me at the game within a month.

January 5, 2007 - Living in Iowa.

I've lived in Iowa all my life. I'm the only pure Iowan in my family. I have lived in the same house since I was 1 year old. Although Des Moines may not be the biggest city, I still consider myself a city boy. Most people think that Iowans live on farms of corn and pigs, although if I lived on a farm I would probably die. Every spring we get rain, every summer we get sun, every fall we get leaves and every winter we get snow. Well... that is every winter except this winter. It has snowed twice all winter and even that melted within a day. Personally I think it has something to do with global warming. Sometimes my friends and I go into Valley Junction, which is one of the oldest little towns in Iowa. After Valley Junction gets boring we go to Jordan Creek Mall. Jordan Creek Mall is the newest mall around and very large, but there aren't very many good stores. Most of the time we are in the food court thinking of what to do or we go to a movie at the theater. Iowa may not be the most exciting place but it is a comfortable place to live. Besides I'm almost 18 and then I can get the hell out of here.

January 5, 2007- The Construction of Zachary Hayes dot com.

I decided to start my blog off with the full story of how I put my site together. I had always wanted to make a web site of my very own but was not inspired until I started my sophomore year at Valley. As an elective I took Web Design and we learned basic HTML and later how to use Dreamweaver. After learning how to use Dreamweaver and building a few web projects in class I wanted to break away with my own web site. I asked to get Dreamweaver on my birthday although I did not get it because I wanted a new iPod even more. I settled for getting it on Christmas and while I waited I read Visual Quickstart Guide: HTML, XHTML & CSS by Elizabeth Castro. The book taught me more about HTML and XHTML if I were to work with the code, not much help when you are using Dreamweaver but I figured I should start with the basics. I still refer back to that book but now I have moved onto reading Visual Quickstart Guide: Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 by Tom Negrino and Dori Smith. It's longer and all about Dreamweaver 8. It's no Da Vinci Code but I highly recommend both books. When I was given Dreamweaver on Christmas I started out my own style of a web site. After working with it I decided I didn't like my layout. I gave up and copied the text over to a "template" which has a more professional look to it. After all I'm kinda new to all this. I bought the domain (zacharyhayes.com) about a month before on Yahoo Domains and later switched to Yahoo Host so I could start uploading files. I had planned on having my site done by January 1st but it wasn't that easy.
