I'm just a 17 year old guy from Des Moines, Iowa. I love the internet and working on my web site. My favorite place to go is to the mall because I love walking around with friends and going to movies. One of my favorite movies is V for Vendetta. I like watching tv, my favorite shows are Will & Grace, Simpsons, King of the Hill, Degrassi, SNL and Scrubs. I enjoy drumming, it's one of my hobbies but I do not play for an audience (yet). I am an average student, I have diverse grades in school. When I grow up I know I'm going to do something with computers or film because I believe they are the future. I don't want to be a web designer but I think the skill will come in handy if I need to make a web site for a company and I like to post stuff like videos online. I love making videos! They are usually odd, as you can see from my YouTube and video page. I've made little short films since I was 11 and got a video camera. Now I make digital videos that I can edit.
My family, though ignorant and not very trusting, are very supportive of me though I know their standards only go so far. Any boy would say his family is weird, and mine is no exception. My brother, Miles, is cool to say the least. He is 4 or so years
older than I am, so 20 right now. My brother lives in an apparment with his roomies. On weekends I sometimes go spend the night at his place in Ames. The only religion my brother practices is hedonism and he doesn't study enough for school but that's ok because we all know I'm the success of the family, he is just the one who will pass on the family name. The picture on the right is of him smoking with an army helmet on. Kinda a funny story... it was about 3 am and my brother and I couldn't sleep. We were both trying out our new program which I use to make my videos. The problem was that at the time we didn't have video! So it was 3 am and randomly the electricity in my neighborhood goes out. The only power that worked was in our kitchen. Our laptops ran out of power and died on us so I grabbed my camera decided it was time to make some video. This was the setting of my popular youtube video, Smoke Rings (My bro and I). We got bored and were hunger so we
thought it would be fun to take the camera to Perkins for some late night restaurant video. On the way out I captured that picture of him with the army helmet on. We took some good video at Perkins. I always have fun when my brother and I hang out for instance one time he made me skip school and this other time we were driving and a small air plane landed in front of us on the road!
My mom is a lot like my brother. A year ago she broke her leg while walking my dog. I received a call that she was in the hospital while I was in school. She had to wear a cast and then a large black boot while her leg healed. I was a bigger helper! Although I still make light of the fact that even now my mother walks funny perhaps fatigued from the rods and pins in her left leg. My mom is a Nurse for new born babies at the hospital. When I was younger she worked at the Tavern. The picture to the right is of my mom and I in Colorado. Nice water fall, eh? My dad took that picture, took him 5 shots, he is a perfectionist when it comes to things like that. Probably because that is what he is paid to do. My dad works for an advertising agency, he is the Creative Director (or some fancy title like that) and well... directs the
creative department. From commercials to billboards, my dad does all kinds of advertisements on radio, tv, signs, et cetera. He is currently working on stuff for Planet Sub, which is a great place to eat! You should try it (Hey, I'm good at this advertising stuff!) They should pay me just for having that on my web site. Well anyway my dad is very funny, we have a lot of inside jokes and kind of our own language. The picture on the right, below the picture of my brother, is of my dad and I at a shoot for a teen pregnancy commercial. Some of my classmates and I got off school all day to stand in front of a large green screen and eat pizza! My dad has the best job, jeesh. Well that is, for the most part, my family. I'd write more but right now I'm too lazy. Don't blame me, laziness runs in the family.
As for friends, I find them hard to describe. I have my school chums that I only see in school and I talk to in school and maybe on myspace. Then I have friends that I meet up with after school. I have friends who I talk to online or on the phone. Then there are my gay friends that I can relate to more easily. I first came out to my ex girlfriend on October twenty-something of 2005. I realized it was time to come out to my friends when I was playing Habbo Hotel at my aunt's house because I was able to practice coming out to people I don't know online, practice makes perfect. I first felt attracted to guys in 5th grade. Like most I denied it and prayed I wasn't gay. Ironically it took a dream to wake me up. What I mean by that is I had a dream which basically put the question forward, "are you gay?". Not long after I came out to my ex, a girl who had a huge crush on me kept asking me out and I had to say I wasn't ready yet. Finally I told her, she didn't accept it right away. Then my other friend who I was sure had figured it out asked me out before the Valentine's dance! I was stuck in a room of people so I was forced to say yes. The next day I came out to all of my friends. It wasn't until April 4th that I told my parents. I still have a picture taken minutes before I told my parents, it's of me talking on the phone with my boyfriend at the time. If it wasn't such an ugly picture I'd post it. It was one of the better days of my life.
Zacharyhayes.com was built using Macromedia Dreamweaver 8. I, Zachary Hayes, began construction on December 25th of 2006 but the idea started when
during my sophomore year at Valley I took Web Design. I plan on taking Web Design course 2 during my junior year with the same teacher, Mrs. Rossander. My dad, Joe, paid for the domain name and web host on Yahoo. I was not sure of what to do my web site on so I settled with a personal profile, kind of like practice if this becomes a profession. My problem is that I have no ideas for a layout. I'm still working on how I am going to format my site and Dreamweaver is being very difficult!!! Not that it's a bad program. My friend, Tyler, would always get mad at Dreamweaver and call it "Nightmareweaver". I found that clever yet true. The picture on the right is of me during the launch of my site! I took this picture right when I started uploading zacharyhayes.com to Yahoo web host. Every picture, animations, video, EVERYTHING on Zachary Hayes dot com is made by Zachary Hayes.
